Toys will be delivered to the young patients at the Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children’s Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders
STATEN ISLAND, NY, Oct. 30, 2025 — The Blackburn Family Cancer Foundation – Coaching for a Cure will host its first annual Holiday Toy Drive Breakfast on Sunday, November 16 at St. John’s Lutheran School on Staten Island. Donated toys will be delivered to the young patients at the Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children’s Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders.
Join us starting at 10 am, for a festive morning filled with delicious food, cheerful holiday music and a special visit from Santa himself! We kindly ask that each guest bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate. Gifts will be delivered directly by Blackburn Family Cancer Foundation representatives to the children at the cancer & blood disorder center, bringing them much-needed joy and a reminder that our community cares.
If you are unable to attend, you can still bring joy to these young patients by sending a toy to The Blackburn Family Cancer Foundation, 40 Maine Ave., Staten Island, NY 10314. The Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children’s Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders has graciously shared its Amazon Wish Lists so we can deliver the toys most wanted by its patients.

About the Blackburn Family Cancer Foundation
Founded in 2024, The Blackburn Family Cancer Foundation – Coaching for a Cure was founded by Ed Blackburn and his family. The foundations’ mission is to support patients battling all cancers and their families, while working with doctors to improve patient outcomes. We will do this specifically by funding Pancreatic Cancer research to improve early detection and treatment options and develop a cure. Funding will also be allocated to patients facing financial hardships of their ongoing battle with all cancers.
About Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children’s Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders
The Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders proudly sits as a part of Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone Health. The Hassenfeld Center was created in 1990 as a comprehensive outpatient facility for children from birth to young adulthood, and provides the most advanced care appropriate for many forms of pediatric cancer, including brain and spinal cord tumors, leukemia, lymphoma, bone tumors, and other solid tumors. In addition to its nationally recognized clinical and research programs, a primary goal of the center is to promote patients’ and families’ social-emotional, spiritual, and psychological wellbeing through various psychosocial and integrative health services. Our interdisciplinary team members partner closely with children and families to address the complex impacts of cancer treatment by personalizing medical and psychosocial care. With the help of supporters like you, the Hassenfeld Center team is equipped to meet the psychosocial needs of children and families throughout every step of their journey.
