Blackburn Family Cancer Foundation Hosts First Annual Holiday Breakfast Toy Drive

On Sunday, November 16, the Blackburn Family Cancer Foundation – Coaching for a Cure hosted its first annual Holiday Toy Drive Breakfast collecting over 350 toys for the young patients at the Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children’s Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders.

In a morning filled with joy, music, food, presents, and of course Santa, Ed Blackburn and his foundation brought the holiday spirit to life. From scrambled eggs and French toast to bacon, sausage, and pancakes the over 100 adults and children in attendance enjoyed the delicious food from Bon Appetit Catering and sang along to the sounds of the holidays.

“This is the first of what we hope are many holiday toy drives,” said Blackburn Family Cancer Foundation president, Ed Blackburn. “It was great to see the joy on everyone’s face as they sang, ate, and visited with Santa,” he continued, “we already can’t wait for next year’s event.”

November’s event included raffles to add to the fun for the adults and of course, presents for the little ones in attendance. The children were also treated to pictures with Santa and all were reminded of the positivity and joy of the holiday season.

On the hearts and minds of everyone in attendance were children receiving care at the Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children’s Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders. “On Monday, December 1st, we will be packing Ed’s pickup truck and delivering the toys along with a little holiday cheer to the children at Hassenfeld,” said foundation treasurer and Blackburn’s wife, Linda.
