A Dancing Success: Radio Bingo Wins Big for Blackburn Family Cancer Foundation

The Blackburn Family Cancer Foundation’s first Radio Bingo event is in the books. The foundation hosted a night of music, dancing, prizes, food, and fun last month that raised over $10,000 to improve the lives of cancer patients across the country.

Never heard of Radio Bingo? This is not your grandma’s bingo—there are bingo cards—but arbitrary letters and numbers don’t fill your board. Instead, it’s song names. All night, the DJ’s from DJ’s @ Work play music and you fill your board based on each song they play. Don’t get too comfortable in your seat though, because there are contests and dancing all with prizes to be won.

On Saturday, June 7 The Blackburn Family Cancer Foundation hosted over 150 people to sing, dance, and party the night away. Attendees called “BINGO,” impersonated Tina Turner, danced the Cha Cha Slide and the Cotton Eyed Joe, and tried their luck at raffle tickets for prizes spanning foursomes at pristine golf courses and pickleball equipment to sports memorabilia, pasta baskets, and everything in between. The night wouldn’t have been complete without the delicious food provided by Buon Appetit catering.

A great time was had by all. “It was great to see everyone singing, dancing, and having a great time,” said Ed Blackburn, President of The Blackburn Family Cancer Foundation. “We are excited to turn this into an annual event and continue raising money to support patients battling cancer and their families while working with doctors to improve patient outcomes.”
